Compression Garments

I was just wondering if anyone post-op has used compression garments to help with the loose skin.  I'm wondering if they might be helpful along with exercise of course.  I want to work towards as little loose skin as possible so I thinking up all sorts of ideas! LOL

Hi

Don't have any compression garments and really don't know whether they would make any difference
for weight loss surgery for aiding the loose skin.

How the skin reacts to losing weight is more to do with rapid weight loss and the condition of your

skin to begin with, such as how much elasticity is still in the skin and how it bounces back etc.

Your age has a lot to do with it as well, the younger you are the more elasticity your skin could have.

How many times your body has gone through gaining and losing weight as well.

As far as age goes, I have been fortunate that the skin on my face and neck have been kind to me

and the skin  has tightened and has not left many wrinkles, when I look in the mirror LOL, how other

people see me, may be different LOL, but my belly has sagged and hangs with my nearly 100 pound

weight loss.  But under my clothes no one sees that, LOL

If you wanted to try it and see if using compession garments work then more power to you, I say,

almost anything is worth a try.

I find that when I am wearing a close fitting dress, I will wear one under that dress but it is such a

relief to remove it after a few hours of wearing LOL, so I don't know how I would have worn one while

losing weight etc. ?

Take care and all the best in your quest for the tightening of the loose skin while losing weight and

hopefully some one will answer your question for you.

Good luck with your weight loss journey.

Eileen nailed it!  Exercising will build muscle that your loose skin will drape over better, but it won't make it suck back in.  Moisterizing will make it look better, but won't eliminatee it.

So in answer to your original question - yes, I too have been struggling with tightening up the look of my foldy Shih-Tzu skin under clothes.

I have NOT done well in regular lingerie shops - La Vie en Rose and LaSenza don't carry anything that would help. (Of course, they have red see-through corsets, but somehow I can't see myself in that at work.)

So I have gone to Sears and found high-waisted Control panties for around $28. They're not cheap, but they're definitely better than similar garments at Wal-Mart, which were too short in the waist and rolled almost immediately.

The other problem I ran into was that Wal-Mart wouldn't let me try the control garments on (over my undies) citing sanitary issues - got them home and they were the wrong size. Sears didnt have that problem. My next shopping trip is to Laura - I saw some foundation clothing in passing, and will report back on them once I try them.

I had very good luck today at Sears Outlet at Dixie Mall.  They had some shapewear and I got 2, regular $85, priced at $42, and then 1/2 price. LOL  Quite thrilled.

Great find!  I was just at Dixie Mall yesterday, picking up my son's Xmas gift.  Too quick in and out to look around, but maybe I'll come to work earlier one Friday and wander thru.

I got one at Penningtons, and I did try it on at the store first.  I got mine shortly after surgery (after I'd healed enough to handle the pressure on my sites).  I think I was still a 4X then, but fit into a 2X.  It goes from under the bra to mid-thigh.  Now, 77 lbs. later, the 2X is rolling down (or up, on the legs) because it's too big.

I've been looking for a new one at Zellers and Walmart, but like another poster said, since you can't try them on there, I'm hesitant.  I think I'll go back to Pennington's once more and get an XL.  The price is around $35, but since I wear it often (mostly at work), I don't mind paying to keep my roll from being too obvious.
