My Surgeon Appointment OR How I Humiliated Myself Today at TWH

Oh Melissa.. hugs to you. but at least you stood your ground and you've got a date relatively soon. Thank goodness your hubby was there to support you.

Oh man that sucks, don't feel bad for crying, it is an important issue for you.
Just a question....the surgeon you meet for that appointment isn't necassarily the one that does the surgery though right? Or is that different now?

what a slap in the face, i hate it when they can't get their **** together.

At least they made an effort to get you the next closest appointment.

The support here is unbelieveable!  I truly appreciate the thoughts and words of all of you....your words have really helped make my day.  I was really feeling a little down in the dumps after my appointment and truthfully wondering if I actually had any business challenging them at all. 

It felt kind of crappy when they kept reminding me over and over again that they don't give preference of hospital choice and I kept reminding me that they said it at the orientation and two other people had said it was possible AND that I had known others who had asked for the same preference. It felt like they were blaming me for mistakes they had now made and it really sucked - but in the end they came through and gave me an appointment that wasn't too far away.

For those that asked my appointment is next Friday at 1030 am....I believe they squeezed me in.

I actually don't have a preference of surgeon at TWH - I researched them all and feel confident in them all - the preference was more about a set in stone surgery date vs leaving without knowing when surgery will be.

Oh and DEREK - was it you in the waiting room with your wife at the time?

I was totally going to come over and ask but then they called me in.  I think they even handed me your wife's Identification by mistake?

I'm so sorry for you.  My very first time there I had to deal with an unpleasent admin. person...sometimes I think they forget that we are human.  I hope things go much better for you on the 2nd!

 side note....they mixed up my ID with someone elses the last time I was there...very odd.

They gave me someone else's blue card and health card today and I had to go give it back to me and say "I'm sorry but this is not me"
