Two days to recover from dumping?

Ok, before anyone jumps on me for my stupidity, I have learned my lesson.  Ok, on to my question:

Has anyone experienced a day or two of symptoms from dumping?  Or dumped over and over?

I'm a year out and starting to transition to maintenance.   I have dumped a few times over the past year but had also "gotten away with" sweets lately.

I was away for the weekend at a lovely resort with amazing food.  There were good food choices and bad; I had both ;-)  The last thing I ate before we left the resort Sunday was the stupidest, sweetest dessert on the menu - I was fortunate to get home before it hit.  Then I was in the washroom off and on for 24 hours - can't believe I had so much food in my body to get rid of (TMI) and in the most unpleasant way.  I also had the trembly, faint "have to lie down now - preferrably beside a toilet" feeling.

After the worst was over I gradually tried to start back on liquids and very soft foods but everything I tried to eat or drink just caused another dump - I could hear it all swooshing through my body.

I probably should have posted during all this, but I was just spent.  Feeling better today.

Any similar experiences?

oh no.. you poor poor girl. I haven't had this happen to me, but i'll learn from what happened to you. I'm glad you're feeling better today. I didnt realize that it could affect you for so long. I was thinking it would be just a few hours.

At least you learned from this.

Hugs, friend.

Yes, Lisa - you've just described one of my worst Dumping episodes.
(In my case, it was the combination of a protein bar and a glass of milk - I know, what a sin, huh?)
That horrible feeling of being too weak to sit on the toilet is awful - I found it was much easier to lie on the bathroom floor (cold as it was) so that I wouldn't hit my head falling off the toilet.

I don't think I was at it for 2 days, but it was definitely 18 hours before the "evacuation" was completely done.

There was absolutely no fluid left in my body. None.
So all I ingested was clear tea and Gatorade, for about 3-4 hours after that.
Then the gurgling settled down a bit - although the next 24 hours were a little dicey.

I feel for you.
On the upside, you do lose a lot of weight in 24 hours. ( ...haha?)

Hi Lisa

Wow, sorry to hear of your experience. I had always heard that people dumped and it lasted for about an hour and a half/2 hours, but I guess anything is possible
Glad you are finally feeling better

Take care

Joyce----Today is the first day of the rest of your life

As someone who first dumped in the hospital post-surgery (on the apple juice I was given), I have two different versions of dumping

If the food stays down and inside me, I usually dump for 24 hours or so.

If it evacuates immediately, it takes about 3-4 hours...

You can guess which version I prefer.

ah, thank you Myke.  I thought I was crazy, because I hadn't seen any reference to the 24-hr version.

yes, my first dump was just a couple of weeks out, on unsweetened applesauce ;-)

 Hi,
Just wanted to say that I have dumped in the past and it was lasted for 48 hours with fainting and constant trips to the bathroom.  I never heard tell of that before but the doctor said it was late dumping syndrome.  Late dumping syndrome apparently takes longer to react in your body and can last much much longer.

Hi L!  Thanks for posting.  It's some relief to hear that it's happened to others, and to hear the explanation from your doctor.  Lesson learned!
