one month surgaversary-longish

Well, it was one month ago yesterday that my innards got rearranged.  It has been a very interesting month indeed.  I am slowly finding out what I can tolerate and what I can't.  Fish and red meat are no longer my friends, but may reconcile later on (hopefully those fences can be mended) and chicken has become my new best friend.  I also have found a new love of laughing cow cheese.  Prior to surgery I thought that they were the nastiest things ever, but bought them because my children like them.  Now I look forward to having one....very strange.  I haven't had any dumping yet but have a lot of discomfort when I have eaten something too thick (lessons learned the hard way i guess!).  I am enjoying trying new foods and the suggestions on here and the Ontario recipes forum have been a life-saver (thank you to all of you who gave me some input on what to have as my first puree meal~very helpful!).
I have lost a total of 20lbs since I came home from surgery and 35 since my first appointment in August!!  My clothes don't fit anymore, but am glad that it is because of weight loss not weight gain!!  I was frantically trying to find something to wear to church and was in a panic because I gave away all of my smaller clothes a year and a half ago(which was prior to making the decision to have my rny!) I stumbled on an outfit I haven't worn in six years and it fit!!!  It was even a bit loose, so I don't know how much longer I can wear it!  For the first time ever I now weigh the same as my hubby!!  It has become a little friendly competition between me and him!
That is all I can think of for now, just wanted to give you an update on how things are going and to let everyone know how much I LOVE MY RNY!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Isn't it great?  For the first time I'm excited when my clothes don't fit anymore.  In the past that was always because they were too tight.
Great job on the weight loss

Congratulations Pam!!

I am also looking at my clothes while I am on Opti.  I have one more week of work before surgery.  All of my work stuff that I normally wear is getting too big.   So next weekend I should be able to bag them up.  I won`t be going back to wor****il February 2012, so I`ll definitely no longer need what I currently wear!  LOL

So happy for you Pam..... I had my surgery Oct 14 so just alittle ahead of you and it is a WONDERFUL feeling when the clothes start feeling loose on you rather than tight.

I also LOVE laughing cow and it is wonderful on melba toast as an evening treat - also nice and high in protein

Keep up the amazing work........ gotta love RNY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have reached my goal weight ..... and LOVE my RNY !!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear that you are doing so well.  As you said given time you may be able to reconcile yourself with red meat and fish; I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Thankfully I'm able to eat everything that I used to eat just in vastly reduced quanitites which works for me.

Congratulations on the NSV, Keep up the good work and I'm sure that you will continue to be amazed at the changes that are coming.  All the best.  Muriel

Get ready to go shopping at the Value Village, Goodwill, and Talize stores - you're going to be losing so fast that you'll wear something three times, and it won't fit anymore.
Especially when you go back to work.
People will constantly say to you `well, that`s too big on you now ...

So no sense in spending good money on new clothes for awhile. And it`s SUCH a treat to look good in clothes (irrespective of where you got them), and get all those compliments ... you`re gonna love it.
