I stole this idea from the main forum - I've been enjoying reading the responses over there, so thought we could do our own poll!

What is the worst/funniest Christmas gift you have ever received?

Easy pick for me - one year my ex-sister in law bought me a bathroom scale for Christmas. A scale! For a fat girl! I guess she wanted me to know just HOW fat I was! LOL

The whole effin world knows I hate, hate, hate baby pink except on babies.  One year my mother buys me a baby pink track suit.  All I needed was the curly tail and snout since I was about 300 lbs and am sure everyone was calling me a pig in that pink suit anyway.   Fast forward about 10 years and yep she does it again, baby pink silk PJ's.  OMFG I hate pink so stop it PLEASE!!!

I still hate it and I don't even like it on any adults at all.  I find it such a gross color.  Now fuschia and dusty rose I can handle but that pukey pink makes me wanna hurl.

My sister and I are 3 years apart - she's older.  I ALWAYS got what she got for Christmas - I never got anything individualized.  The worst was an itchy wool sweater from my Aunt - in my sister's size.  We were about 200lbs apart!  Guess who I gave the sweater to???

Jeebus - yeah, I imagine I would have been re-gifting that one! lol

The worst part was my aunt complaining to my mom that I didnt like the gift.  It was a nice sweater but how in god's name was I supposed to wear it??  My mom had to explain to her that it didnt fit.  Really???

hehehe
I had something similar happen when I was pregnant.  My aunt passed on some of my cousin's maternity clothes to me.  My cousin weighs 100 pounds soaking wet and I was at least 210 lbs.  Just because they're maternity, doesn't mean one size fits all!

Hmmm, this is a tough one for me as I post my Christmas wish list on the fridge on January 1 for the upcoming year. I also have an email and snail mail list I send it to so everyone has lots of time to find just what I want. LOL.  JK (well not really)

I would say the worst present I ever received was something I really loved...a Randy Travis Beanie Bear collectors item.  The problem is that I now have 4 of them and everytime someone gets me one they are just so tickled that they found such a thing that they are filled with excitement giving it to me. No way could I burst their bubble and say I already have one...two..three of them so I just go ahead and give an Oscar-worthy surprise performance, accept the present graciously and line it up on the shelf with the others.

Maybe someday they will be worth money and I can get rich from them lol

A gift I really hate receiving, but always seem to get, is a giant make up kit.  Often they come from Shoppers or Walmart, and are a no name sort of deal with every colour under the sun, but the cheapest quality make-up ever.  I looooove make-up, so I always seem to get these darn kits, except that I am a MAC/Sephora-quality make-up lover, not a Dollarama-quality make-up lover.  The only redeeming quality about these things are that they sometimes come in a nice box, and that part, I have used.  I have one that came in a nice velvet lined, wooden box, so I immediately threw away all the make-up and it has been my jewelry box for about 10 years now :)

I also have a cousin who likes to pick out a book for everybody in the family.  I love to read, but a book is such a personal choice, that he seems to fail (with me at least), every year.  I am not sure if they are new books, or really gently used pass-alongs.  The later would really help explain things.

Finally, as I am a teacher, and I mean no disrespect because I am grateful that my students even bother to buy me gifts, but I have received a huge selection of items ranging from very small clothes (I mean really, who buys a their 300+ pound teacher clothes marked XL???!!!), perfume (another very personal gift that is hard to choose unless you know what the person likes), and I probably have 20 plus Mikasa vases and candy dishes.  I could start my own outlet.

I have to say though, one of the most heart felt gifts I ever received from a student, was a collection of things she had assembled from her bedroom.  There were little figurines and stuffed animals, old chapter books, and crayons, all in a tattered gift bag.  She came from a very neglectful family situation and knew she couldn't count on them to supply her with a gift to bring to school, so she made her own.  She was 6 years old at the time.  It took every ounce of effort not to cry in front of her, but at recess I had a good old boo hoo in the bathroom.
