O/T - What the heck is wrong with some parents!!

I often see my neighbour's kids walking around my neighbourhood at 11, 12. It's crazy.

I hate it when little babies don't have mittens on. THeir fingers are so tiny!

I always had my kids bundled up when they needed to be. And in bed before 9, more likely 8. sheesh.

It always drove me nuts that my brother and his wife never gave their kids a proper bedtime.  They stay up until all hours and they're always exhausted!  Big surprise that they cant concentrate in school!

On the weekends they sleep in until 1 or 2 in the afternoon.  Their bodies NEED sleep!

Exactly! My husband's brother and his wife do this. The children rarely go to bed before they do! Not only is it detrimental to the children, but the parents have no 'adult time' without the kids! Kids need both structure and lots of sleep.

Can't understand shopping with kids at that time of night, unless it was a late night trip to pick up an emergency Rx. My kids couldn't stay awake that late and they're 10 years old!

I can't stand crowds and just about lose it in a store like WalMart at this time of year, so for the past couple of years I purposely only do online shopping or shop overnight at stores who are offering that service. I don't mind kids in stores, but there are so many who the parents let run wild and treat the store like a playground. That's one thing I always instilled in my kids.... How to behave in restaurants and stores...

And as for the baby, poor thing! I don't think some parents realize that even though they (the parent) is hot from moving around, that poor baby is sitting in a seat and not moving, so their extremeties are going to get cold a lot faster.

We all raise our kids the way we see fit.  Who are any of us to judge what someone else is doing?  Perhaps they all had a nap on purpose so they could go shopping when it's a lot less busy.  You don't know the whole story so it's really uncalled for to judge this man.

Well, I can only speak as a single parent and my own experience.  I can recall quite a few unexpected late night trips to the drug store when my son would take ill in the night. Not ideal, but necessary. Perhaps that was exactly the case with the gentleman you saw with his two young ones.

I agree with Karen. He might have been a single dad who needed to go to the pharmacy. Instead of leaving the kids asleep unattended in bed, he did the responsible thing and took them with him. We don't know the whole story behind why people do what they do, so I try never to judge.
