Peppermint Tea

Last month, my dept. at work went to a Morrocan restaurant for Xmas dinner.  At the end, they served sweetened peppermint tea.  I didn't think I'd like it, since I don't really like peppermint on its own, but to my surprise, I did.  Later, I found out that they serve peppermint tea because it helps with digestion.  Our supervisor bought everyone a tin of their tea leaves to take home.

Ever since then, I've been hooked on it.  If after I eat I'm not feeling well (i.e. something's too big to pass thru), I have a cup of peppermint tea (sweetened with Splenda) and I feel great afterwards.  (No milk, but I add a bit of cold water.)

Also, because it's made from peppermint leaves, it's caffeine free, so I count it towards my water intake.  Tetley makes peppermint tea as well, so I now keep a can in my desk and one at home.

Just a suggestion from me to you.  Take it as you will.

I've read too in some studies they have done (I'm on th treadmill so I don't have them at my fingertips) that they find that the smell of peppermint may actually reduce appetite. Fascinating stuff!

I LOVE peppermint! It really helped when I had IBS flare-ups. The tea is very soothing and anything with peppermint oil will help digestion.

I used to buy a tea called "Digesters Tea" - it had peppermint and other herbs/spices. It tasted greatabd really helped.

Now that I've switched from coffee to tea, I can't wait to re-explore all those spiced teas again.

I saw a tea at the grocery store called Tetley Soothe.  It is ginger mint  with lemongrass and is caffeine free.  I didn't stop to pick it up, but I'm definitely going to because ginger AND mint sound like it would be a happy pouch thing.

I have that one Janet, and it's very nice in the evenings.

I grow mint in the summer then in the fall I just pick it all and dry it out and instant mint tea all winter.

The Bulk Barn has the peppermint teas leaves as well. I'm pre surgery and my sister in law got me hooke on Ginger tea for the same thing. I even drink it when I have the flu it helps with the nausea, even gas. I will have to look to see if I can drink it post op. I don't add milk to it either just Splenda.

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

I never thought I'd like it but when in pre op doing my optifast,  I was trying to get as many caffeine free teas that I could and peppermint was one of them and I love it. It's among my faves.
