You guys were bang on about calling Humber River. After my file being lost for a year, found, then when I called the first time today-I was lost again., .
Now I am moving along!!
I have a bariatric class from 9am to noon on Groundhog day at the Finch site.
I was so happy that again, I did not think about all the questions I had to ask. (plus the centre was closing in 10 min when I called for the 2nd time that day, I had called hours before and was to get a call back but worried that it would not happen)

So, I did have the presence of mind to ask if I was to bring my food journals and she said yes.
What else to bring? Is this the meeting with the nutritionalist, psych and ?

Do I go early and get a hospital card? I got one in Ottawa but of course I was referred to Humber River.

I can google the "Finch site." for address and directions.

Anything else I should know about this class?
Thanks again O knowledgeable ones

Here's info about the Finch Site address:  http://www.hrrh.ca/Contact

The class is just an info only class.  You'll likely have a appt. with the dietician and social worker on another day.  I never met a psych at Humber.

You'll get a hospital card when you have surgery, not beforehand.

The class is okay...to be honest, if you're here, you likely know most of what they'll cover.  What I found really informative was the visuals the dietician had of how much you'll be able to consume post surgery.  Until I saw those, it wasnt real for me.

Good luck with everything.

Oh..should add....the class will be in the professional building beside the hospital not at the hospital itself.

Shucks! That sounds like the orientation I already had in Ottawa. Booo. They asked me if I'd already had orientation in Ottawa and I said yes, I thought this was supposed to be the next step.

The orientation and the gastric bypass class are quite different, at least at Humber.  The class is done by a dietician and a social worker.  They go into great detail about eating after, vitamins, behaviours that may need to be addressed, etc.

I went through HRRH for all my classes and doctor visits, it went by quick as I had them plan as much as possible at 1 visit due to distance travelled. They will do that for you if you ask, they can not do it for the classes though. Also see if they can plan dietician and class or other possibilities. Best of luck i found and find them very understanding to my problems. Dr. Sullivan through them at St. Joes in Toronto is fantastic and understanding and his bed side manner is fantastic.
