With all of my other surgeries I have taken herbal product called arnica they are tablets to help speed up the healing process and it works for me but am not sure if i am allowed to take it after surgery. Has anyone taken it before. the tablets go under your tongue and melt there are the size of nerd candies.

My plastic surgeon actually had me take them before I had my tummy tuck and then continue taking them after. No idea if they helped or not but I took them and had no issues at all. It's just a flower so can't see why it wouldn't be allowed.

It's like a miracle drug for me my first csection I couldn't walk for almost a week after. My second I was up and about almost immediately after. When my appendix burst I used it for that as well and my only issue was the gas trying to escape my body through my shoulders. (I thought they dropped me) but ya other then that I was up and about and no pain issues either. So I am hoping I am allowed!

A toxin in anrica (helenalin) can cause gatroenteritis and stomach and intestine bleeding if injested in large amounts, so they may not want you to take it for this reason. It can be hard to determine the true potency of many herbal medications. In 'normal' doses it looks harmless, if probably ineffective.

I just had my 3 month follow up (TWH)....had just started a herbal anti-inflammatory (I am having some problems with my shoulders - not weight related)....anyway.....the nurse looked up the ingredients and strongly suggested I stop taking the pills.

You might want to contact the clinici/hospital you are going through and ask their opinion on ARNICA...if not ingesting it what about the topical cream ????  They can give you their medical opinion on both.

I have reached my goal weight ..... and LOVE my RNY !!!!!!!!!
