Ladies and Gentlemen please help.....

I know this is likely redundant but I need some puree food ideas.  At my surgeon's appointment today they told me I needed to keep trying to get some food in.  The only pureed anything I've tried so far is boiled egg mashed with a bit of low fat mayo but it sat sooo super heavy in my stomach.

I am steering away from carbs right now at this point so no potatoes, melba toast, saltines, etc.

I went grocery shopping tonight and bought some tilapia (but how do I puree it), canned pink salmon, white tuna, laughing cow cheese, ricotta...

I am so confused about purees....when I looked up online people were eating melted cheese?

Help!

Thanks so much.

Hi Melissa

I bought vegetarian chili and ran it through the blender.
1/2 c salmon or tuna + 1/2 c low fat ricottta cheese + dill + pepper all run through the blender together to form a paste (little bites, and it stores well)
lentil soup through the blender
vegeatble soups + unflavoured protein powder through the blender

I tried to think first of what I could use to get in the protein , added liquid to make it "blendable", and then boosted it with a little protein powder.

Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas so far ladies!  I planned to mix some ricotta with some marinara sauce but the ricotta is 6grams of fat per 1/4 cup...although low in carbs and high in protein - is this okay?

Gosh i would be lost without you all!!  Even after a whole year of preparation!

Don't sweat the fat, it's still not much in the grand scheme and you can have it as long as your carbs are low. Don't forget guacamole, the fat in avacados is really good for you and you could mix in a bit of unflavoured protein powder. You should be able to puree almost anything in a food processor.

My main puree staples were salmon, fish (although it was not really pureed, just mashed to mush lol). But my favourite was homemade pureed spagetti sauce with loads of veggies and extra lean ground beef. It pureed so smooth and didn't hurt Effy at all

Is Effy the name for your pouch?  Haha love it.

My husband and I refer to my new smaller stomach as the B**ch!!

Hi Pink

I lived on re-fried beans with shredded cheddar on top for my two weeks of pureed

I tried everything and it all made me nauseated just to look at let alone smell....

I had purchased baby food for this stage but I also found it revolting

You are eating so little right now that seriously....DONT WORRY....about carbs or fat....just protein....a can of refried did me three meals....

this is the worst stage in my opinion....and it too shall pass

Good luck

Barb
