This is the part where I.....

Hi Melissa

I felt the same, but without the VSG switch to make it even more of an adjustment for you.  It WILL get better.  Some things that helped me were ....
: protein is protein, it doesn't matter where it comes from, so eat as much of what is working for you NOW as you can and don't worry about variety yet.  Can you add unflavoured protein powder to liquids / applesauce / sf puddings that you can tolerate?  I stayed liquid / pureed until almost 5 months.
: try liquid vitamins.  I still use them at 1 year bcs my pouch likes them, and they have done a good job for me nutritionally
: blood iron levels and ferritin ARE tricky.  You are not alone with these issues, and it takes a while to figure out the protocol that works for each individual.
: the weight loss will happen - it simply has to given the numbers.  In the meantime maybe try to focus on small steps, like getting in as much protein in as you can and drinking.  Over the next 2 months it will all start to fall into place.

I know it's hard to be optomistic when you are accustomed to being in control of most things (The Mom in you) and that isn't there yet.  You will be again, it just takes a little time.

Hope we see you tomorrow at TWH

This too shall pass.
Just because a schedule says you should be up to certain foods, does not mean you are healed enough for them. Take it slow, enjoy the foods  you can, add the extra protein like others suggest where you can, protein powder or powdered milk.
I know the hard thing is if things are liquid, do you have to wait the 30 minutes for the water. I don't think it makes any difference at this point. Get what you can as often as you can.

Your body is going through major hormonal changes too, so its no wonder you are in a funk.
Talk to the dietician and nurse, share how you feel and what things feel like. They will help you. We are all here for you too.

Oh Melissa,

A HUGE hug to you my friend.  It sounds to me like you're having some "buyer's remorse" right now.  You know what?  Things ARE tough at first.  It sucks some days, actually. And some days it actually ******g sucks.  You are certainly not the only one to worry and fret that you're not going to do well - many of us have been there too.  Just keep trying. Even a teaspoon.  Take it on tiny step at a time.  You WILL rock this - I have complete faith in you.  XOXO

Hi Melissa.   Been there and it does get better.  I didn't have my surgery switched last minute, I fought for my VSG but for the first couple of months I definitely had "buyer remorse".  Now I can't tell you how happy I am.  I'm nine months out, 9 pounds from my goal and eating "mostly" normally  ("Normal" for all us bariatrics is of course high proteins and tons of water).   I have had a few "treats" here and there and I'm VERY conscious still of the scales but I would tell anyone who is suffering with weight to have the surgery.   As people have said above, go slow, introduce different foods a little at a time and give yourself time to heal.  Get in as much exercise [walking] as you can handle and just know you've done the right thing for yourself in the long run.
Take good care and Happy Valentine's!!

Wow!! I had no idea that you had the VSG done and not R&Y. I think everything you're feeling is totally understandable considering you had so many things happen that were out of your control! In my opinion you are really a trooper... seriously!

It terms of my own experience, 3 weeks out, and I can say that I'm definitely feeling a little weird about whether or not im going to be successful. I was like you, very optimistic and positive.... but now that I'm not even really losing weight ( 3 week stall aparently) I have all these fears about being the only person that this doens't work for!
