Tips of Success
This friday I meet with the surgeon and believe I will walk away with my surgery date. I would love it if people could share some of their tips on being successful through opti-fast and then post-op. If there for one tip you could give a newbie...what would it be?
Thanks everyone. I'm excited for my appointment on friday and can't wait to get this ball rolling!!

I am only 5 months post op but I would say follow ALL the insructions given to the letter. Only start on the next stage of food when it says you should, not because you feel like you can handle it. Drink all your water, take all vitamins, and pre buy the first stage of food so it's there ready for you when you get home.
As for the optifast, I prefered it ice cold, the colder the better but it all depends on your taste. Make sure you drink the 4 a day as you are told too. Skipping some will not help you, you need those to shrink your liver.
Good luck with it all

Optifast
1. Stay positive, very very important. Look at this as an opportunity, not something you have to endure.
2. Space out your optifast at regular intervals, i used 4 hr intervals (8, 12, 4, 8)
3. Optifast is best cold, blend it with ice to make a nice milkshake kind of texture
Post op
1. Stay positive - remember, an opportunity, not something you have to endure
2. Follow the rules.
3. Walk/move as much as you can tolerate, don't overdo it.
4. eat/drink slowly, and measure.
5. You won't be able to tell when you're full, or when you're hungry, so keep track of what and when you're eating to make sure you're getting enough.
both pre and post op, come here for support and encouragement!!

Hi Sunnydaz....one thing that everyone hasn't mentioned is to be prepared for stalls/no loss...but you will be loosing inches....even if the scale doesn't move!! And like everyone has said...follow your clinics rules!!! very important....I made the decision NOT to own a set of scales, and only get weighed at my Dr' office....I did not want to be a slave to the scale...this has worked for me!! Good luck on your journey!! Patti K.
Post Op - DON'T try any of your trigger foods until you are at goal. Your body will be so cleansed from not having any junk, that you won't crave it, once you have it, you will crave it. Why oh why did I have to taste that first damn potato chip. Also, stay away from the white carbs until you are at goal and TRACK your food, don't stop!
Good luck!
Good luck!
