weigh****chers
So, I've decided to try the weigh****chers app on my iphone to see if I can get myself in the right mind set for my eating habits...anyone else do this while waiting for your WLS to move forward?

Moving on doesn't mean you forget about things. It just means you have to accept what happened and continue LIVING
I've also gone through the checklist that TWH gave as a handout for preparing for surgery and have started trying to follow a couple of them over the past few days. So far, I've cut out carbonated beverages and started tracking my food, although the tracking is making me a bit horrified at my terrible eating habits! I'm taking it slowly, though, trying not to overwhelm myself with too many changes at once.
I've tried WW 4 times and gained back the weight plus more every time. :( But I have seen other people do quite well on it, so good luck with following it while waiting for your WLS!

Hi,
Could give me more details about the books (title, and where to find)- sounds interesting. Going through St. Joes' I haven't heard of these. I've had all my pre-op stuff done now for weeks but still haven't heard of surgeon appt date! So anxious- but have to trust they will call me- it seems when I had called them before to check on things they got annoyed! Any advice on wait times to see surgeon himself?
The four workbooks I got (that have exercises you do in them) are:
Preparing for Weight Loss Surgery: Workbook (Treatments That Work), by Robin F. Apple, James Lock, Rebecka Peebles
The Food and Feelings Workbook: A Full Course Meal on Emotional Health, by Karen R. Koenig
The Body Image Workbook: An 8-Step Program for Learning to Like Your Looks, by Thomas F. Cash
The Cognitive Behavioural Workbook for Weight Management: A Step-by-Step Program, by Michele Laliberte, Randi McCabe, and Valerie Taylor
I've started the Body Image Workbook and the Preparing for WLS Workbook. I think the Body Image Workbook in particular could be quite useful for me - I have terrible self-esteem around my looks. The Preparing for WLS book is interesting too.
These two that I've started use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques, so it should be interesting to see how helpful they are to me. I'm planning to treat the four workbooks kind of like a "night course" - I'll put time aside regularly to do the exercises in them, along with my journaling (which TWH also recommends).
