Strange muscle spasms
OK I'm probably reaching here.
I am on day 3 of 28 on Optifast. For the past day I have suffering from muscle spasms in places I've never had spasms before and in non stressful situations. It is kinda freaking me out. I am beginning to think that OF may be the culprit. I am going to call my center tomorrow and talk with the NUT. In the meantime, has anyone had similar experiences?

I think upping your fluids will make a difference. Try it for a couple of days and see if the situation improves. Are you able to carry a bottle of water with you? Crystal Light and sugar free Koolaid have been my hydrators while on optifast. Was getting 2L a day, but am now aiming for 3-4L a day as I'm starting to experience the famous 'opticlog'.
I have been researching leg cramping lately, along with low electrolytes. Sometimes drinking too much water can cause you trouble, by diluting the needed 'lytes, and causing problems with low sodium. I am wondering if drinking too much water could be the culprit for me. I have been running stints of 16k's and I am finding that the backs of my thighs and my calves start to tighten like a vise around 12k, so my last 4 are very painful. I also find that when I go to shower afterwards, I am washing off a very noticable film (sometimes enough that I can scrape it off with my fingernail *gross*), of salt crystals from my face. I have never had this before, but the longer I run, the more noticable these two things are. Loosing excessive sodium through sweat and also, over-hydrating before and during runs, could be causing my sodium levels to drop.
So in a nutshell, my point was: too little water is not good, but neiter is too much.
