This Tuesday is my first B12 injection!  Eek.....I opted to get my B12 this way over tablets and I am glad because the B12 is the one vitamin to be concerned about with the VSG.

Has anyone had the B12 injection before?  Where do they put it?  Is it painful afterward?

I used to get B12 injections when I was with Dr. Berstein.. - they are injected in your stomach or in your butt... - just a little pinch.. sometimes you dont even feel it.. - no after effects..

I get a shot monthly in the upper arm also. Last time It hurt and I had a big bruise  with some tenderness... the nurse did not have a good hand that day!  Other ones did not hurt at all.

totally painless! It goes in the upper arm towards the back. I've never even dripped a drop of blood even though my GP puts a bandage on every time. Much better than a pill I think, and I haven't had surgery yet.

If you are getting them monthly, they inject into a large muscle. I do my own into my upper thigh muscle.  It does sting a bit.

I've gotten it twice since surgery.  I get it done in the upper arm.  For me it hurts when it is injected (kind of like a burning flow as the fluid enters the arm) and the injection site has been tender and/or sore, but only if I move my arm weirdly.  Everyone will be different, depends on your tolerance to pain.

First time it was better than last. Last time it bled quite a bit and got blood all over my shirt.  Next time I am definitely asking for a bandaid afterwards, just to be safe.
