Melissa, I haven't commented until now. You are doing FINE - your 40/30/30 rule is great. Keep doing what you're doing.

You need to get past that.

You need to get past that.I just have never had the belief that the VSG was the right surgery for me and even though I am trying my hardest to be positive and make it work for me - I guess there is still a small portion of my brain that just doesn't believe it will work.
Going back to work and having something different to focus on has really helped me to shift my focus. I think I had too much time off work to over-think things.
I have a fear of always being the 390 pound unhappy uncomfortable girl that I was for so long....I do talk about it with the social worker at TWH.

PJB, I agree with Karen, you need to accept you got a VSG and move on from it. I know you don't think it will serve you as well as the RNY but it can if you let it. There may also be the option to get the switch part done if needed. It is absolutely a psychological side effect that I am experiencing post-surgery and something that I am working on. I actually believe it will work for me about 80% of the time these days which is better than the 0% I felt 3 days post-op. I do accept it because I don't have a choice in the matter. It took me a really long time to be convinced that the RNY could help me and I did all my research and preparations based on that. Even still I was anxious up until the moment that I was put to sleep (although I did have peace of mind by that point that it was the right thing to do). I am patient with myself and have been taking the time to really get to know my surgery over the last couple of weeks. If it were super easy for me to move on I would have already! Believe me! I get closer and closer every day though.
You will lose with VSG. Plenty of RNYer**** stalls, this could be what is going on. I did not review your food plan because you've gotten plenty of good advice already. Someone posted recently about a 10lbs weight loss while on vacation that really got me thinking. She'd had a chat with her nutritionist who was encouraging her to eat more and start in with more veggies and fruits. She was a little looser with her diet over her holidays but still did lots of walking and when she'd got back from vacation she'd lost 10 lbs. Recently I'd been stalling and then had a bad cold during which my diet was a little more carb heavy and I didn't weigh myself at all. 2 weeks I didn't weigh in and when I did I was stunned to see a 4 lbs loss when I'd been stalled for a month. Sometimes it is just a matter of playing with your food
to see what works for you!
