I never got a blood thinner prescribed...just the prevacid (approx $83), percocet (can't remember how much but less than $30, I think) and milk of magnesia (less than $10 I think).  But obviously you could have more prescribed depending on how your surgery goes and what your surgeon recommends.

Hi Sandy,  I am scheduled for surgery next week.. Just wondering how long the script for $83.00 covers for the prevacid?? ...  Is everyone prescribed this??

Hey Nikki, through Hamilton  everyone has to take these.  They are now doing the prevacid for 3 months and the blood thiners for   7 days once you get home from the hospital.  Not sure on the cost as I have coverage.

The prevacid is $83 for a month's supply.  Also remember to budget for protein shakes/powder and vitamins.  I spent more money on protein powders that I never used than any prescription meds, lol.

Recent studies indicate that a PPI is the best way to prevent ulcers in the first 6 months post-op. It is definitely necessary!

Not sure what site you are out of.  I am out of TWH,  I was prescribed prevacid but no blood thinners.  As well as percocet.

I have no idea how much as I have a drug plan and it is covered at the drug store.

I'm three weeks out today from TWH and I had two prescriptions; one for stool softener and one for oxycontin.
