Happy Surgiversary to me
One year ago yesterday I was nervously awaiting the procedure, cold and shivering in my silly hospital gown, padding around in those ridiculous booties. My surgeon, Dr. Starr, came and sat beside me in the waiting room, to calm me and answer any last-minute questions.
I made the mental decision to put my life in his (and the anaesthetist's) hands for the next 3 hours, and it was the best decision I ever made.
Now one year later, I have surpassed his goal for me (150 pounds) and reached my own private goal of 135 pounds.
My 2 blood pressure meds and blood thinners and diuretics are all gone, as of the day of the surgery.
I have gone from a loose size 26 to a tight size 8-10.
I can wear a pretty bra again.
I fit on any seat in the bus every morning.
I've taken up running (3 times a week) and can now run for 3 minutes before I have to walk again.
Life has changed completely, and I have a constant glow from happiness and pride. Everybody tells me so.
I will never be able to thank my surgeon and the team at HRRH enough.
And I will post a pic of the new me in a couple of days.

Congratulations Gaby I am so very happy for you.
Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

Man, oh man, Gabby. You have come so far. I remember the first time I met you and Wendy at coffee group. You hadn't even had surgery yet. It seems like that was yesterday. I am always sooooo impressed by how time flies, and how quickly and amazingly things change- and boy how you have changed! I bet one year ago, if someone had mentioned "trampoline", you would have run (or walked quickly- haha), in the other direction, yet there you were last week bouncing away! I am so thrilled for you that life has become such an adventure with so many things to look forward to! Congrats on a happy 1 year out. You look amazing, and it's true, you do glow- vibrantly! xoxo
