Why do post op diets differ so much?

Had my surgery at Guelph Feb 29 this year. Doing the clear fliuds for two weeks was really tough as I wanted something with some texture. It was tough and I ended it one day early. The two weeks of full fluids is much easier as you can have a larger variety of foods. Hang in there you are almost done the 2 weeks of clear fluids. Went for both my dietician and surgeon follow ups and everything has healed really well.
I think it's crazy that they want you to do clear fluids for 2 weeks after surgery. Especially since you have already been on liquids for 2-3 weeks before with Opti-fast. The full fluids that TWH suggests for 2 weeks post-op is gentle enough. I believe anyway. Just my thoughts.

That does sound odd to be having clear fluids for 2 weeks. How are you getting your protein?? I agree that a standardized post-op diet for all the bariatric centres makes more sense than everyone having a different way of doing things. That likely is in the cards but no doubt it is a matter of funding. Are you eating this full fluid diet on top of protein shakes or are you not taking in any protein other than what is in what you have described which is practically nothing. I'm sure you are fine as far as your stomach goes, at my centre we are drinking protein shakes day 2 post-op. I'm more concerned about the lack of protein in your diet than the texture.
I havent had any protien at all...no shakes no nothing. I have my first 3 week post op appointnment next week. I wasnt told to have any shakes. Now im confused. I was 2 weeks clear only broth and sf jello. Now im cream soup made with milk and strained, 0%mf yogurt strained, sf pudding, unsweetend apple sauce...thats it nothing else!
