I had pain in that stitch for at least 3 weeks but the pain eased up a bit more each day.  You'll find that each day is a little easier, just don't pu****  I couldn't stand up, lay down, sit down, or get up on my own for the first week without help.  It was terrible, but it gets better :)  Hang in there :)

I'm just over 3 weeks out and my stitch still bothers me....not major though. Sitting straight up, driving.....But not enough to take pain meds...just some discomfort.

Might I ask ..what is a dimple stitch? My daughter will have to travel three 5 hour train rides just get back home after her surgery so any suggestions for me to help her be as comfortable as possible.  We live in the far north or its train or bus...I can' t see anyone travelling 600 miles by bus after surgery.  Thanks for any help!

It's a large stitch that ties the incision to the muscle wall, creating a big dimple on the abdomen. Some surgeons do it and some surgeries require it, but others don't. I had a large uncomfortable one that lasted for 4 weeks and it made sitting uncomfortable. If flying is at all an option, I recommend it over the train.

i never had this problem, so be aware that this might not happen with your daughter.

I feel ya... mine was very uncomfortable for all four weeks that I had it. A heating pad and stretching out flat on my back helped. I sneezed while sitting and popped mine the day before my four week mark.

Hi, I didn't have a dimple stitch, but I did get good pain meds for the ride home and that was a godsend!!

My dimple divot finally let go yesterday, exactly eight weeks post surgery. I can use a hula hoop again.
