Karen, I feel for you about the weather yesterday! I finished my PATTS & we were heading up Spadina at 4:00 & onto the Gardiner to get to the 401 & the weather was so nasty! Add to that the fact that traffic was almost at a standstill and we just crawled along for over an hour! Not being too familiar with where to go, we ended up getting in the wrong lane & had to circle around to try to get back onto the right road leading to the 403, then 401! Between that and the rain/snow/hail crap, with the wipers thwacking back & forth, we had headaches that hung around for the next 6 hours, until we got home. Where the hell is the sunshine & warm temps? I hop ethat it's better today for you up there.......

I dislike that word so much, I do have a nephew with Down Syndrome and he is one of the best kids I know. I am in love with that child and think I would go off my rocker is someone called him that. Its sad to say that some people don't understand until it touches your life personally.

Inappropriate isn't even close!!

I can't believe that supposedly "educated" people today would still use that word! That is so mean-spirited and hurtful and so demeaning - are they really that clueless that they don't understand why that word should be off-limits?  It puts you in the position of becoming the "language police" if you say anything to them, which is not a role that I assume you want to play. Can you talk to your immediate supervisor about it or at least see if she sees it your way or "their" way? Pretty sad situation.

I know that they don't mean anything malicious by saying it.  I think I'm just shocked that people in a professional office say it!  I guess I've worked too many years in community and social services - coming over to corporate has been an eye opener. lol

I cannot believe that people still use that term, and I've noticed that people who use that term often use other offensive language as well.  Lack of understanding I guess.
