Holy Crap, I went for a walk to the store and missed something serious apparently.  I enjoy the posts on this site and have learned so many things.  I want to extend my appreciation for your input.

I'm not religious but a religious quote is appropriate - Forgive them for they know not what they do.

Yep listen to the person whose advise you like best  and tells you what you want to hear- and then come back in 2 weeks and say why aren't I losing and expect others to help you out? Drives me crazy too.

I love all the vets and they do a phenomenal service for us newbies.

OMG!
I'm laughing my ass off.

Karen is the mean "know it all" girl!

I knew it!  real people cannot be that nice and wise and supportive of total strangers, and even remember the names of most newbies! She got your true nature! It was a six years long show to cover up your real mean and pushy persona! LMAO!

How dare you compare you so called experience with WHOLE 6 weeks of post op life! What can you know?

Shame on you, so called vets! oops, shame on me too.

But seriously, they never knew Luci, Pam, Marg... they didn't go through the wave of leaks in 2008- Dawn, David... The liquid diet necessity was derived from this sad and painful experience and lost lives. People who started their journey in 2011 take it for granted. I don't think they realise that someone we knew, actally died from ripped stomach and that's the price for the knowledge, the current clinics have.

What can we know?
Nata, a very happy DSer!

It's so sad to remember that, isn't it Nata. Not to mention Heather K who is STILL suffering from terrible side effects, even at least 5 years later. Breaks my mean-spirited heart.

By the way, I wanted to add a story about when Lucie died. The unfortunate task of writing a letter to her grieving husband and children and family was left to me. I cried for hours, days, trying to painfully find the right words to share our grief from our support group and offer hope and peace to her family.

I still think about her all the time. Thank you for mentioning her - I needed a reality check.

Y'know...we hear the stats and we know the program but nobody during this process ever says "follow these rules, they were created from the mistakes we've learned from other patients dying".

We go merrily on our way thinking we're not the 1 in 200 that pass on. We don't stop to think that those 1 in 200 were right where we are asking the same questions and making the same decisions.

And were very good, loved, cared about friends of ours. We've had more than enough of grieving.

Honestly Karen, I thank you for this thread. It's the reality check that I needed too. I'm not making bad decisions, per se but I'm relying too much on manufactured protein rather than REAL food that I know I should be eating. I've become lazy & relying on protein bars to fill the gaps. That ends today. Real food for real health will become my motto

So easy to fall into that trap - I've been there myself over the years. I'm really proud of you and happy for you for the working out and running you've been doing. xo
