For those with some medical knowledge - interesting case in NEJM
New England Journal of Medicine has an interesting interactive case study of a WLS patient (several years out, but still obese) with mystery symptoms.
The interactive persentation walks you through the various possible diagnoses - aimed at MD's - , and the result is quite interesting (basically vitamin and mineral defiiency, but quite advanced with serious side effects).

That was great! I also took my vitamins during that!! Before my alarm told me too LOL
Lesson from it.....don't turn to the drink and take your vitamins!!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
Thanks Gaby,
Excellent interactive learning tool. I didnt always understand all of it but the huge message I got from it through the various case files was to make sure you consistantly take your vitamins. I pay a little more for my Opurity multi and calcium plus I take B12, D3, Biotin, and Feramax iron but it is worth it. Having decided to undergo this surgery for my health it would be irresponsible on my part to not continue my vitamins regularly post op. It is a big reminder to everyone as to what can happen if we ignore this.
thanks for sharing,
