Hi there oldies and newbies

Sorry it's been so long since I have popped in for a visit , hope your all doing well.

I have a dilemma... I was taking Bupropion SR 150mg pills 3 times a day for depression/anxiety/panic attack etc..

For the last few months I have been chasing these pills to get them as they are on back order everywhere I try. I tried the Wellbutrin SR 150mg but for some reason there must be something in it that does not agree with me and has set me back big time. Thought after taking for 2 weeks thing would settle down but they have not , bummer for sure.

So my question for those of you who are taking antidepressants with your DS surgery what works for you other than the above? I need to call my doctor today to change to a new med as the Pharmacist's says it could be several months before they get them back in store or maybe never she had no idea??

Thanks in advance for any help you can share...

Changing AD's is a pretty big decision and one that is likely best discussed with your doctor. Just because something has worked for someone else doesn't mean it will work for you.  i know there are entire categories of drugs that while they work for some give me bad side effects.

I'm on Wellburtrin and take the generic version of it you listed and haven't had any trouble at all with getting ahold of the pills. I'm due for a refill soon so I'm going to ask my pharmacist - not taking it definitely worries me.

AD's do stop working after a while.. i know i've had my AD's tweaked and changed over the years as things have changed body chemistry wise. This was necessary before WLS and after WLS.

Hi there
Thanks for your advice, believe me I am no stranger to Antidepressants, not in the least.
So I have the knowledge. But since surgery and the fast absorption things work a lot differently for me personally. Just wanted to hear how others are doing with the same issues and what they have tried since surgery. I am 13 years on Antidepressant so you see no stranger to them . As far as stopping working the change only hit me after starting the Wellbutrin so what ever is different between the 2 of them it doesn't agree with my system as it is now.
Calling my Doc this morning to explain my dilemma about getting my supply.
Not sure where you live but here there are none to be found I called all over all on back order and have been for the past 5 months and was only lucky to find someone who still had stock now they are out too.
Thanks just the same

When I was having issues, my doc went back in time for an oldie but a goodie....sertraline, AKA Zoloft.  It took about 6-12 months to get the dosage just right, but it worked. Try asking your doc to consider older meds, they are sometimes forgotten for newer ones. And do work for some. Good luck in your search. I know it is not an easy one.
