Dr. Berlingieri
He used to be with dr Wharton with the weight management clinic. Basically it's a diet centre that monitors patients and treats different aspects. Chances are your friend may be encouraged to do optifast as a stand alone diet. They could refer to surgery down the line but they try to help people lose weight without it.
Dr trekki is supposed to be starting one in Windsor as well. Patients that do not meet the criteria for wls will be encouraged to go there. I know of one lady who was refused as her bmi was 34 and she was asked to be a apert of this program when it starts in fall or winter.
If anyone has any first hand knowledge that would be great as I'm only going by what Ive heard second hand.

I have been a patient of Dr Berlingieri for many years
1. He WAS in partnership with Dr Wharton a few years back for both referral for WLs and for Optifast clinics...this partnership ended 3 or so years ago....it was short term
2. He is an internist - specialising in Cardiac care
3. He also distributes optifast ( I believe he still does)...I have purchased it from his clinic in the past
4. He did refer people for WLS - I am not sure at present as I obviously do not see him for this anymore
5. I like him....and his staff - my opinion is they are competent
