I'm re-posting this here. I know there have already been a lot of posts about this, but thi**** me personally. Here's why
I am so SO angry at reading the posts from yesterday, and I don't care that it was edited to say that the advice was only a 'joke'.
This is a serious offence to me, as I previously was a laxative abuser. I have been terrified since becoming constipated August, with pain, to take a laxative, because I don't want to go down that road again. I am still in therapy, and trying hard to lose the last four pounds to see that 100 pounds lost as well....and have been sitting at my current weight (which is normal) for 6 months now. I haven't been able to make peace with that, as i'm afraid of regain. But am I turning to laxatives? No. Do I still drink my water....yes. I might not make it to my own goal, which is a head game number, and I know that. Again, this is why i'm in therapy.
Please don't post such advice again. You might think it's a joke, but it certainly wasn't to me, and it hurts to think it really could be taken as one. Also, someone could have actually taken that advice. When I was early out, I took advice left, right and centre. Including advice from one person who told me to eat sugar to test if I dum*****t. WTF??

I am sorry it was not seen initially as such bad advice that it HAD to be a joke.
I do people the credit of thinking that:
a) they got to the weight where they needed to have the surgery (as I did) by making a lot of bad choices, in eating and in dieting
b) they know they made bad choices and are trying to be better.
c) the old ways are still there, lurking beneath the surface.
Therefore I believe people KNOW that laxative abuse etc etc etc are Bad things, bad habits from our past.
And naming the beast can bring a "yeah right ! never !" response.
The Furor over it got me to go back and put the ADDENDUM. You will note I edited my answer, and did NOT delete it, so people could see what the fuss was about.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
I won't abuse my body to make it....and i'm sure I will feel like a failure for a day. As I did when I hadn't reached goal weight by my 1 year, but a few weeks later. I will get down. Then I will move on. It's how I roll.
Therapy is fun to talk about this stuff lol.

I am going to take it easy, journal my food as I have been. And if I miss the gym two days in a row because i'm tired, so be it. I will try my best not to beat myself up if the scale doesn't move.
I am here in front of the computer, not next door at the gym BTW. :-)

I'm going with Karen on this goal thing... it'll happen when its meant to. if that's 3 yrs after surgery, then so be it.

Sigh...yep I know. And all the people at TWH tell me the same too. They seem shocked that I am not ecstatic that I made it to goal weight. But then I see people who have "goal weight reached" or "20 pounds under goal" or even the 100 pound badge, and I feel like a failure. I know everyone is different, and it's not a competition, so why I can't stop those crazy thoughts??? I have NO idea.
