Optifast Starts Today!

  Here's to all of us!  I start on Thirsty Thursday as well,  bench on the 14th!!!!!!  woot, woot!!!

I'm with you!  I start boxing day  - decided to "try" the OPTI for a few days to see how my body reacts to the aspartame...and go from there.  I'm having a family dinner tomorrow and then a big family gathering on the 26th....it will be hard but I'm going to focus on water water water and socializing!

Well *cough* as I recall, I did suggest you ask to start on the 26th.  That said, its a short period on opti, take it as a time for mental and physical cleansing, and then it will be over and surgery here, and looking back it will seem the blink of an eye.

You don't have to mix up a whole package at once, so you can do 8 x 1/2 packages if you need to stretch it.

I liked Opti but it is very personal, and you don't have to make a lot of choices and do a lot of planning, so that is the easy part.

lol yes you definitely did, i'm not upset about missing christmas dinner at all. Everyone has been very supportive of the journey. So far I'm 2 optis in and one broth. I don't find the taste of opti bad, I got the vanilla, but it's the after taste that bothers me. Lots of gum and teeth brushing I guess lol

Hey Shay, I started Opti yesterday.  So I'll be missing the "turkey dinner" as well.  But right now it doesn't bother me @ all.  I am enjoying the Optifast, and as Monica says it's really good blended with ice.  I don't like the aftertaste either - so I'm chewing gum.  I also enjoy chicken broth - very tasty.  This whole stage, in the grand scheme of things, is just a drop in the bucket.  We just have to remember our goal and we will get through this.  Merry Christmas!

Welcome to this phase of the journey.  I was on Optifast last year before Christmas.  We celebrated the extended family Christmas dinner before I went for surgery on December 12, 2011.  Of course everyone else ate and I had my Optifast with me.  I sat at the table for half of the dinner, then I got up and started cleaning and picking up (was at my brother and sister-in-law's house).

You may want to rethink your baking sweet treats idea next year.  Unless of course you are able to make them without tasting and resist when you hear them calling you from the freezer.
