Do People Get A Headache On Opti?
Hi Everyone,
I'm on day two of Opti (so far, so good). I'm under the TWH guidelines, so I can't have any veggies.
I've had a headache since about 5 hours after my 1st Opti shake on day one. I'm guessing my noggin doesn't think I'm getting enough calories. It doesn't hurt that much that I can't function, but normally, my headaches aren't this bad, I take nothing for them, and they go away in hours.
I quit drinking regular coffee or tea or taking anything with caffeine in it (including Tylenol #1s) weeks ago and then I only had one headache quitting the caffeine.
Did this happen to others on Opti? Does it go away after a few days (I hope...), and can I take 2 Tylenol #1s for the headache (each pill has 15mg of caffeine)?
Should I beg my MD for a very few Tylenol #4s (4 or 5 pills), and split them into 4, so I get only a little caffeine per dose? It's the codeine that kills my headaches, the Tylenol does less than nothing.
Thanks for reading this.
Jenn. :)
I found for the first 4 days i had a headache, the chills etc.. Its the body detoxing, come day 4 you will feel like a new person.
Drink lots of water on top of the 4 optifast that you need to have a day, it will get rid of the headache.
I used to have chronic migraines/headaches before the optifast and since i finished the opti and had surgery, not even one headache
Hope u feel better
the first 3-4 days is the worse day 3 for me was mu worse. Take some tyenol or something for the headaches it will get better.
Remember your body is carb detoxing.

I am on day 5 of Opti and I too had a headache day one...I totally agree on water intake. I started drinking (I now drink twice the recommended amount) and am peeing like crazy but not a headache since. MIO (liquid no cal flavor for water) has saved my butt....I don't like sweet juice/flavored water but this you can add just the right amount for you.

TWH doesn't have a rule against caffeine, so I would take the Tylenol with caffeine. I drank a ton of diet pop while on Opti (not great for my health overall and certainly not allowed post-op, but not banned by TWH during the opti phase).

Yup... headaches, chills, and sleepiness all happened to me. It goes away once your body starts to get use to Optifast and being on a liquid diet.
