Plastics ?????
I was chatting with someone at the mall... discussing rashes, skin break outs and such after weight loss that are caused by your excess skin, and how the clinic's say you should repot this to your Family Dr. for future assistance with your plastics.
I was informed that this persons Dr. had several patients with ongoing issues such as I mentioned above, after wls, but they are unable to get a surgeon to do anything with OHIP assistance for plastics....
I am in Cambridge area... someone did say that there is a DR in Toronto who does OHIP assisted Plastics... ???
Anyone have any input on this.... just a heads up for others in the future needing plastic surgeries...

Good morning... my brother had Dr Reed as his surgeon and Dr Reed I do believe can arrange it once you are at your goal weight for a certain period of time and of course that it is serious enough to do. It is a panni only from the belly button down no others such a breasts or arms ect. Talk to Dr Reeds office. My brother had his 4 or 5 years ago ... things could have changed since then. Have a great day !!!!!
That is correct. You still must fall under the OHIP guidelines for approval. Breast reduction, and panni removal are the two that qualify. Reporting rashes and back pain to your family doctor may help. It is the plastic surgeon who will write up the report and send it to OHIP. If it is denied, you can appeal, using the reports you made to your family doctor, as leverage.
My PS would not see me until I was a year at a stable weight (within 10 pounds). She saw me August 2012, and I had my WLS March, 2011. I had my panni removal January 28, 2013.
Hope that helps!

I was originally denied by OHIP on my first attempt/request/submission for a pannilectomy, they stated I was (borderline)...my
main negative was that my rashes and open wounds were ALWAYS treated by myself with Pentanten cream or vitamin E oil, because I would have been embarassed to go to my family doctor. All these need to be treated and if necessary a coritizone or anti-fungal prescription acquired..this all has to be documented for proof to OHIP.
After I was denied I decided to appeal the decision, so I had to write quite a lengthy case on why I think OHIP should reverse their decision..I had to write a LOT of personal detail in that 7 page letter...and a year after I saw my plastic surgeon OHIP reversed their decision.
Remember there are (3) items that OHIP requires in order to even consider someone for this surgery, not sure if all plastic surgeons submit photos, but mine did and even that did not make me a shoe in.
I believe even a walk-in clinic doctor can provide supportive documentation and remember this HAS to be a reoccuring or more than one time problem...(in the eyes of OHIP).
if I can offer anything further please PM me.
