How to deal with Negative People?

As well as you, your boyfriend should do research too. My hubby (boyfriend at the time) did his own research when I wasn't around..  he went to most of my appointments with me.

Your mom, well.. There's no changing a negative person like that.

My family didn't fully support me right away, but after a few months they turned it around. The surgery is a lot safer than it used to be but everyone is always nervous because anything can happen really. 

Just make it clear that this is what you are doing and you would like their support, but that you will be going ahead with or without them.
