Consent before Social Worker?
Has anyone signed consent prior to their social worker appointment?
St. Joe's Hamilton Orientation - Dec. 4/17; Pre-nutrition class - Feb. 9/18; Nurse - Mar. 12/18; CT Scan - Apr. 16/18; Gastroscopy - May 1/18; Internist Appt - May 3/18; Dietitian - June 11/18; Social Worker - July10/18; Consent - July 24/18; Surgery - Sept. 17;
I'm at a different hospital, but no. I signed the consent for surgery at my appointment with the surgeon, after speaking to him. I thought that was standard, since the surgeon goes though the risks with you and you have the opportunity to ask them questions.
Are the asking you to sign the paperwork before you're even cleared and approved for surgery? Seems a bit odd, but you can still change your mind after signing.
