I am absolutely miserable!  Everyone is aggrevating me!  All I think about is anything sugary!  I have been doing sooo well.  I am doing EVERYTHING Barix has said to do and the weight is coming off, however, I am realy craving the sweets!  Is this normal?  Shouldn't these feelings have gone away by now?  I know that once and addict, always an addict, but the constant mood swings are driving me crazy!  I am a typically happy-go-lucky kind of girl and I am all over the place.  HELP!!!!

it sounds like a case of head hunger but for sugar... when I had this happen I made myself a milkshake... sugar free ice cream, milk, and then unflavored protein powder... it worked for me...

but what kind of sweets are you craving... maybe one of us has a sugar free version for ya...

youa re prime time for the emotional whack over the head! Us girls stored estrogen in our fat, as the fat is lost the estrogen is released into our bloodstreams and Holy Canoli it is like the worst PMS you ever experienced! I doesn't last forever but is unpleasant as all get out!

HAng in there - it WILL get better. Try fruit for your sweet cravings along with Jello and Pudding.
Hope this helps!

what Liz said is very true that flood of hormone really makes you a bit whacky. Hang in there it will get better.

Ditto to what Liz said.  The estrogen release is WICKED.

And I find the head hunger gets worse as time goes on....as time progresses you want to ease back into your old habits....very annoying!

Hey Steph,

I am right there with you...at least I was, at the last support group meeting is about the time I was going through that. I was miserable....I didn't want to be around myself. I had the what the hell did I do thoughts going through my head.
I am much better now, it took about a week and now I feel great again. Although the head hunger I think will always be an issue....i need to read that book to try to help with that.

I hope things get better for you. PM me if you need to chat.
Christine

I  am pretty sure Chris is talking about Anatomy of a Food Addiction that Karen suggested - I did get the book and have started reading it - So far it is a definite must have.

oh REALLY!  Didn't know about that whole estrogen release thing.  Great to know as I'll be coming up on that lovely milestone in a few weeks... right around the time of a business trip.  Just great.  good to be prepared, though!

Steffi,  is there a chance that you're getting hidden sugar somewhere in something you're consuming?  If so, that could be triggering the craving - doesn't have to be a lot, I understand, just enough for the brain chemistry to say "I remember YOU!  and I want MORE!"  Maybe go back through that list in the Barix bible of all of the substances on nutrition labels that really translate into "sugar"  ****ep looking at it and being surprised at the ones I've forgotten are bad.)

just a thought!

Hang in there!

Steff,

This is very common in women once they start losing weight. Hang in there it will get better. By the way I am home recuperating now. See ya on facebook.
