Topic: RE: PAIN
I was up and walking a few hours after surgery and not much pain/discomfort at all. But, everyone has a different experience! Keep walking especially after meals. When I got home, I walked outside in the driveway back and forth or in the house if it was raining to start with and added more steps each day. I wore a pedometer and kept track of my steps, too! Walking helps with gas and digestion and you don't have to do a lot all at once, just do what you can as many times a day as you can.
I am almost 6 weeks post op, been back to work for past 2 weeks (5 hours a day) and will be back full time on Monday. Just get enough protein each day, drink your fluids and take your vitamins and walk a little more each day!
One day at a time!! :)

I was up the night of surgery walking. I didn't have much pain. I have no pain now. I am just very tired.
Hang in there and try to move a little.

Hello
I am eight days out. The more you walk the better you will feel. It helps move the air along from the laparoscope.

I am in RI and am permenently disabled so am on medicare with BCBS as a secondary. When I got a copy of bills from my BPD it said $40,000. This was at RIH with Dr. Roye. I did have a few complications and had to stay in the surgical step down longer.

Topic: Help for a Friend
I have a friend that needs gastric bypass surgery but has no health insurance. Does anybody know or have an idea how much the whole procedure would cost in Rhode Island? Surgeon, anesthesia, hospital stay, surgery, everything involved with it? Thank you for your help.
