Yes, he does. That's been my joke with Dr. B. now...he's seen both ends of my digestive tract.

Hi there.  All of the surgeons at my bariatric clinic were trained as trauma surgeons. All surgeons have a five-year residency at which time they have to perform all types of surgeries. They can, then, take advanced training and fellowships to subspecialize.

1st goal to be under 200. Done!  2nd goal to be just obese. Third goal is to be under 170 by Thanksgiving 2009. I Pray I can make it. I know the Lord will help me through this.

According to this website, your surgeon is a general surgeon who specializes in Bariatrics.

True. It may just be the ones around here. They do other Laps as well (eg- Gallbaldder, appendix, chole etc) but the 5 bariatric surgeons I talked to here also were licensed in PS as well. Not sure why that is....

I work in the healthcare field...

A surgeon will look at a lesion most often, especially if its something that needs to be removed. It will more than likely still be sent to a pathology lab to be tested. Then you know "what" it is and if it needs to be treated, etc.
