Tattoo questions !!!
OK, this is totally not related to WLS, however I know some have mentioned having tattoos and I have a couple of questions...
Where is your tatoo and how painful was it where you had the tattoo ?
(foot, ankle, shoulder, etc )
What is your tattoo of ??
I have always wanted a tattoo, always ! Nothing big, fancy or out of the way but just something. I already know what I want, just cant decide where I will put it. I really want it to show, however I have to be careful in the professional enviroment I work in as well..... sooo, I need some tips, and also I am a wuss and worried about the pain !! I am wanting a hot pink gerber daisy with a zebra striped center...so what do you think you tattoo fans ??? Help me decide where...
Have a great day !

Oooooooooooooooohkay..... LOL I got one about a year ago. It's a butterfly with a vine and a flower. It's bigger than I thought, but I love it. It's on my right shoulder blade area. Did it hurt...... Um.... YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. It hurt a LOT. But not so bad that you want to cry. But bad enough that I wanted to
I recommend that you:
1) find a very good, clean, well respected tattoo parlor to go get it done at
2) take some Tylenol before you go and after you go
3) be ready to baby it for a couple of weeks.
4) DO NOT pick at it or scratch it no matter how bad the itching gets or it will screw up your tat.
Remember, it's a controlled burn of your skin. So it does hurt when they're doing it, but honestly, afterwards, it just feels like a bad sunburn.
Having said all that - I'm wanting another one - just haven't decided where to put it. I'm going to get a black cat with big yellow eyes playing with a lady bug, in memory of my baby cat Callie who died a few weeks ago.
Just remember, once you get one..... you usually end up with more!
Go get tattoooooooooooooed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the advice ! I am such a baby I know but I really do want one. I think the shoulder blade would be a good place, even though I do not wear sleevless, etc ! I want something small though, just because I am a wuss ! lol ! I dont know, when or where but maybe when my childhood best friend and I meet up in a couple of weeks ??? I didnt think about the tylenol, so that is a great tip ! I may want to od on the ! lol ! not really ! Thanks again !!!!
The kitty with the lady bug sounds cute ! Ok,I will let you know when I go for the gusto ! I said when I lost my first 100 pounds I would get one, now that I have lost 164 1/2 I thought ok, it is way past time....wish me luck !!! lol

Hey Jen,
I have a tattoo on my left ankle. It is a dolphin jumping behind a half moon. It did hurt when I was getting it but it wasn't too bad. It was nothing compaired to the pain that I had after surgery. When I get to goal, I am planning on getting one or two more. I want to get one on my lower back.
I think that a daisy on your ankle would be cute. And I agree with Cheryl, take Tylenol before and after you get the tattoo and you should be fine.
Have fun!

Jen, I have three - Cheryl is right - they are addicting - once you get one, be prepared to want more. I plan on getting another on on my lower back once I get to goal.
Mine are: Iris on my right shoulder blade area - didn't hurt much; Sun on my left hip - didn't hurt at all - guess I had so much fat there to cushion it!; third on is around my right ankle - it's kind of a vine - it did hurt when they were on the backside of my ankle - it's closer to the bone, that's why I think it hurt.
My husband is going to design my next one - it's going to be an angel, and he's going to work into the wings, my daddy's and my oldest sister's initials - my daddy died 9 years ago and my sister 3 years ago. I wanted to do it sooner, but he wants me to wait until I reach goal.
Good luck deciding!

OK....here goes....My name is Melissa and I am a tattoo addict!
I have 8 so far, playing around with ideas for my next one already. They are on my ankles, entire inside calf (that's a big one), stomach, lower back, hand, armband (all the way around), shoulder...
Don't worry about the pain - it's not bad at all! I guess for me the most painful was the inside of may arm - for the armband...lower back on the spine was a little rough too, but none were bad.
Easiest place for me was the legs/ankle.
Let's see, as for what I have - the big one is a fairy, I have flowers, tribal art, a celtic cross, barbed wire, a dolphin on my stomach (which is 1/2 a dolphin now - look at the pics in my profile)
and iSSANNi on my lower back.
Your daisy idea sounds cute! ~Git er done!!!

I have one which I share with my younger sister. It is a blue green asian caricature that stands for Eternity. It is on the top of my right foot. The pain was not as bad as I thought when I got it..like an annoying itch but more constant. The outline hurts more than the color I think. In my case mine hurt more the next day when I swung my legs off edge of bed and went to stand up...OUCH! I have fairly thin feet with not much tissue...then or now..so I think that played a part in it all. My fav color is hot pink and now that you mention it I should have went with that..LOL

Hey Jen!
I have 3. I have daisies on my ankle...that one hurt because the needle would hit the bone but it wasnt completely unbearable...I held a friends hand and cussed like a sailor lol
I have a butterfly on my chest right below my neckline...cant wear too revealing clothes to work because of it ...did not hurt at all
I have a sun/moon on my upper left arm...that one hurt because it is big and took so long to complete.
Have fun..I love my tats...after plastics Id love to get more

Jen, I like you want a tatto. I am waiting until I reach goal. My hubby has 2 and he has been trying to get me to get one.
I like your idea, sounds cute. I also will have to be careful where I put mine because of the professional environment I work in. I see lots of people with them this day, but I suspect it would be frowned upon at my place of employment.
Have fun and let me know how it works out.
Dana
