Got home from the hospital just a little while ago!!! Sorry we have been so incommunicado!! Ken got the flu from me last week and he has been comming home from the hospital and just crashing every night.

An update. Last Tues. went to surgeon about pain and trouble eating & drinking. Decided to do the hernia repair 1-8. tuesday night he was watching me at support group and told me if I needed a direct admit he would make it happen!

Well, of course Last Call was starting at work the next day so Wed. I got to work early got all my work caught up, everything taken care of and went home in tears. Dr D told me to get my butt to the hospital! Dehydration, lack of nutrition and pain had caught up with me! Fortunately I had perfect timing for once and had a room in less than 2 hours.

Had surgery Thurs. evening. Took twice as long as expected because the hernia was not what was causing all my problems--it was the damn adhesions again!!  Also after bloodwork came back I was anemic!! Have had 4 IVS, blew them all (my veins don't like iron!!)

However todau I was up took 3 walks by noon had a good shower and put on jammies instead of gross hospital gown. I was ready to come home!!

To all newbies, I am 17 months out. If you are having trouble eating or even drinking or having weird pain call your Doctor! Do not wait till you crash!! Crashing is the pits. I should have called him at least a week earlier than I did but "they needed me and couldn't do with out me" at work. Your health comes first. Learn from us post honeymooners mistakes. It may sound negative but it is a good thing to learn not only from your own but also others mistakes!!

I will wait to go back to work after seeing the Doc next week. Will be at R&S on Saturday!! Thanks to all of you for your warm wishes and love!! Many thanks to Kat (Iwannabe thin now) and her sweet husband and Ms Viv for comming to see me. They really made my day a lot brighter!!

Love and hugs to all,
Meggie

No Thanks needed for the visit Meg.  I probably enjoyed it as much as you did.   Just glad that you are back at home and on the mend now.

Argh!

Meggie!  I am so sorry!

I'm so glad your doctor is taking good care of you!

Those adhesions can really wreak havoc!  :-(     I took Celebrex for 1 month after my last two surgeries because "they" are finding that Celebrex retards the growth of colon polyps and in some studies with rats adhesions.  When my doctor did my hernia repair, I only had one small adhesion that he zapped (which was a huge improvement over all my other surgeries causing a whole abdomen of them!)  Of course, we'll never know if they actually prevent adhesions from forming or if my body decided to cooperate!  If you want to know more about this, let me know and I will send you the link(s)....if I didn't lose them when my computer crashed!

I'm glad you are home!

GET WELL!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

OMG I hope he isn't planning on using Celebrex. I tried it back in 2000 and boy howdy did it make me sick!! We are talking Mon. about a steroid to put the adhesions on hold.

I think you read my post wrong....that's OK you're probably on very good drugs!  LOL

I took celebrex after both of my last surgeries for 30 days because the studies are indicating that they retard and/or prevent growth of colon polyps and in rats adhesions.

I took it already!  It didn't make me sick!  And, so far as we can tell, it worked (or my body cooperated)!!!

Celebrex is an anti-inflammatory (as you know inflammation assists in the growth of adhesions) BUT it also has a property that compromises the structure of the tissue to retard the growth so it's a double edge....studies are currently being conducted on people.  I decided to make myself my own lab rat.  I presented the information and studies to my surgeon and he agreed to try it because of my history with adhesions.

I hope this help!

LOL

You may return to your regularly scheduled programming (pain medication high)  LOL
