Kaiser CA VSGs?

Hi, my best friend is considering the VSG (yay!). She has Kaiser No. Cal. insurance, which I know doesn't currently do the sleeve. But it seems to me that I've read about other Kaiser members(maybe down south?) who were able to have it covered through Kaiser. If anysone knows anything about this, I'd appreciated any info on her behalf! Thanks so much, Lizanne

Lizanne, Ms. Shell has Kaiser So. Cal and her surgeons just happened to have the VSG as a part of his arsenal.  Check with her! Kim

Don't know if it is any help, but Kaiser in Colorado recommends the lap-band or Roux en y, but leaves it up to the patient and surgeon to determine the best surgical option.  So I'm going for the sleeve. Biggest problem is the long wait time due to the number of patients requesting bariatric surgery. I have no idea if the same protocol applies at Kaiser in California. Fred

Hey darlin...yes I have Kaiser So Cal and YES I got my sleeve with Kaiser Harbor City.  I have no clue how it goes in Nor Cal but I will say this...the whole time I took the 24 weeks that Kiaser makes you go through I was told my ONLY option was the RnY. In Nor Cal your friend might have to hire an attorney to fight for the VSG since they do offer WLS. Just PM me with any specific questions.  I saw your PM and your post... Ms Shell

I had VSG, with Dr Zane in Harbor city. I have Kaiser so cal also, I didn't have to fight for it, it was reccomended for me =) the whole time though I was thinking I was gonna have the RNY. you can messege me if you want more info! =) ms shell knows I'm happy to help!! hehe -Dawnyel
