I was eating ham all day but it only added up to 6oz all day. I weighted my self yesterday i was 182 now this am i am 186. I sure hope I am holding water because of the ham. I did eat 2 table spoons of potato salad to and 6 shrimp.

How can a person gain 4lbs in one day. Hope tomorrow it will be gone i am drinking all my water today to see if that will help and do my protein.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

It just happens. The body is goofy like that when it comes to water retention and glycogen stores.

I've gained as much as 6 lbs overnight. It will fall off soon. Keep in mind you need an EXTRA 3,600 calories over what your maintenance calories would be to gain one pound of fat (roughly). I am sure you were still in a caloric deficit. Don't even sweat it. = )

Thanks Mandy, I needed to read that about the calorie/wt gain thing too.  Of course I went off plan over the Easter weekend and I'm up 2 1/2 pounds from Friday.  Sigh.  Have missed reading your posts.  Looking great as usual.

Thank you!

I have to keep this in mind every time I have a jump in weight.. Since doing this, I've relaxed a LOT about that number on the scale!

I am sure it was the ham. I had ham yesterday too and all I wanted to do the rest of the day was drink, drink, drink and I didn't even have that much ham. I too realize that my body holds up to 3 pounds of water at any given time, so when I see that scale go up a bit I don't freak anymore. I never count the ups only the downs :)

Mandy... I just have to say, nice to see ya girl!!

Gotta be fluid retention..You would have had to eaten over 14000 calories(if my math is right) so I believe you will have it off soon just drink more water it should flush you right out...

I love the 14,000 calories math !!!! I'm not even sure how anyone with wls could get that much into them in a day or even two !!!!

But I do appreciate the reminder -- of how much one would have to eat to gain a pound or two or three....it helps with the water weight crazyness !!!

The interesting this is I'm trying to lose a 20lb regain SO I specifically did NOT go over anyone's house to eat ham because of the knowledge that ham "causes" weight gain.  That sodium is a b*tch isn't it.

When I worry about "not losing anything for a couple of days, or gaining a few pounds", I've learned to stop and think....'when was the last time I poo'd?' It's amazing how quickly the scale can drop those pounds after a morning constitutional.

I gained a lb overnight a couple days ago.. though I did predict it. I had Campbells Cream of celery, with a half scoop of Unjury chicken.. I knew the sodium was high but it tasted really good.. Yep, that was water weight. Went lo-sodium the next day and lost the water weight and noted my normal loss too.
