When could you sleep on your side again?

So I'm in week 2 and the incisions are still bugging me, especially if I try to sleep on my side... the pulling sensation keeps me from it.  Considering I'm a side sleeper, sleeping on my back since last Monday has made for a rather uncomfortable, restless post-op.

Can anyone tell me how long it took before you could comfortably sleep on your side again?

Hi,

I forced myself on to my side..lol. It hurt while I got in to the position and then I was fine as I long as I didn't move again. By the time I hit 3 weeks, I was able to slep on my tummy again.

Good luck!

I also used pillows to prop myself up as pulling my abdominals and rolling over without much to grab onto were difficult. I had a hundred pillows AND a husband pillow on my bed for the first two weeks!

I was on my side soooooort of comfortable by 10 days post-op and on my belly by 15 days.

Good luck!

Sorry that your incisions are bugging you when you try to sleep on your side.  I am 9 days post op and been sleeping on my side since 5 days post op with no problems.  I am sure when your incisions are completely healed than you will have no problems sleeping on your side.

Good luck!

I started sleeping on my side when I was about 7 days post-op. However, I have a body pillow and it helps a lot! I am 3 weeks post-op now and I still sleep on my body pillow!

I was able to sleep on my left side the night of surgery.  The right side, within 3 days.  Comfortably, within a week...  But, I think I have a high pain tolerance for side sleeping, due to my previous experience with gallbladder surgery- with that surgery, I was sleeping on my back for almost a month!!!  That surgery was much more painful long term than this one...

Hi.  I had my surgery May 23rd, and I was sleeping on my right side by night 3, and on my left side by night 6.  It sure made a difference in comfort level being able to sleep on my side.  Pulling my legs up into a semi-fetal position helped a bit.  Good luck.

It took me about a week but I took my pain meds right before bed to ensure a good night's comfortable sleep...I didn't need them during the day. If you still have some, perhaps try taking one before bed....you may find you are more comfortable. One good night's sleep goes a long way when you're getting as few cals as we are at this point.
Good luck!

I could sleep on my side on day 3.  However when I started to get incision pain....  the only side i could sleep on was my left.  my back and right side was uncomfortable with slight pain.  it all went away by the 3rd week for me.
