What birth control do you now use?

I'm on the pill but we think we're going to add condoms after the surgery. My doctor seems to think the pill is sufficient (I asked him if he'd raise my tiny malnourished baby- he looked at me like I was nuts!)

So what do you use?

My hubby and I have talked about this and we are going towards the condoms since I wont have to worry about taking a pill at the same time everyday. ( I'm the worst at taking pills)

I had to be off the pill for 30 days before surgery, so I went off the pill. We had talked before about long term birth control and I'm in my mid-30s, so it's time to start thinking about other alternatives. Our kids are 8 and 10 and we knew were done. Hubby got a vasectomy last week. (Yippee!)

We'll use condoms until he's gotten the all clear, of course But the way it falls, he's supposed to be out of commission for 2 weeks... 2 days after my surgery. I'm guessing I'll be out of commission for 1-2 weeks, minimum (? - a question to add to the list for the doctor!). Sigh.

I use condoms. I used to be on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and loved it... until I also had to start taking metformin a few years ago and started getting my period every other week (once from the absence of bc pill hormones and once when I was actually ovulating from the metformin). I stopped taking the pill when I realized it wasn't doing a darn thing for me and started using condoms then and keep using them now... though since I'm off the metformin now I wonder if I should ask my doctor about using a hormonal birth control again. I miss the freedom it brought me in my relationship, but don't want the risk of pregnancy... at least for the next 17-23 months (I'm counting down the minutes!).
