Do You Have A Mantra? On Positive Self-Talk.

I think that positive self-talk can be ones of the most influencial practices we can use in our life to motivate us and keep us geared for success.

In the face of so many challenges, frustrations and every-day battles, it's good to be able to use a little self-generated pep talk to keep us on track and going in the right direction.

One phrase that I often repeat to myself when the going gets tough is simply: You Can Do This!

Whether I'm at work, spending time with a difficult family member or standing in front of the refridgerator attempting to make the best choice possible, I will often take a step back, take a deep breath, and say in my head (or out loud, if I'm alone): You Can Do This!

It can be an amazing simple step that we can take to help us regroup and move along on our journey, whatever type of journey that may be at the moment.

Does anyone else have a mantra that they use to keep them on track?

You don't need that!  I say this to myself whenever temptations are at my door step. Whether it be food, clothes (I am totally addicted to clothes shopping now and not even just for myself!), or a selfish little splurge that I don't really need but for some reason want (like tanning). You don't need that!  Usually works with food, but sometimes the clothes temptation is too overwhelming :)

One of mine for work has always been if you can't make it - fake it.  I have been in some "difficult" work situations (hard to deal with people), and sometimes had to totally fake the positve happy personallity that I always present at work.  It has never failed - the positive (sometimes irritating) personallity has turned the situation around!

So now - when I'm not 100% confident that I can do this - I'm faking it - soon enough the self doubt will pass and I will really make it happen!

So even when you aren't feelin it - fake it - it will get you there!

I have lots.. I like "progress not perfection" since I'm always a work in progress. I also like to look at what I want in the FUTURE not what I want in the moment. The choices I make RIGHT now effect the future, so I try to think about the future and the end result rather than a momentary desire.

"Just because I can; doesn't mean I should!"

It's a huge "mantra" to several aspects of my life. Most importantly, I say it when I'm staring down the yummy end of a bowl of some deathly yummilicious carb indulgence that I know I could eat the entire portion if I pushed my sleeve, but if I eat 1/3 of it, my mind, heart, soul and sleeve will all be in unison ! ! !
