Heartburn?
Why do these things always happen on the weekends when the surgeons office is closed? LOL For the past two days I have been having some slight heartburn, it is NOTHING like the GERD and reflux I had when I had the band, but it is something new.
I am not on any acid reducers. Anyone else had this issue? What did your doc do to treat it?

Hi
Just some quick tips for you...
First, my Dr. put me on omeprozol 1 x per day for 2 months!(you can buy that at costco) Or previcid without a rx.
Also, if you need a little more to stop any burning, get a bottle of Maalox and take as needed! My doctor recommended the Maalox too....
Hope you can give it a try and see it does work!
Wishing you a good day!

I was rx'ed Nexium as all my drs patients are on it mandatory for 6mo.. to aid healing etc.. I switched to prilosec after a month with no issue. A PPI is likely best for at least 3mo. If you decide to get off it after that time- you will need to slowly wean off them by tapering down the dose, as PPIs do cause rebound acid that can be worse then it was to start with.
Try getting something OTC. I'm taking prilosec 2x a day.
For me, I cannot go more than an hour without eating or drinking, or I start burning from the inside out.
I've been ordered by my doc to sip protein shakes for most of the day (like an 11oz shake over 3 hours) and drink a lot of water.
I've started keeping little snacks like nuts/beef jerky nuggets in my purse so i can eat least eat a little something every once in a while. I'll eat 100 cal pack of almonds over an hour or two and it helps keep the acid down.
