Hello everyone!!!

I am currently still in the process of getting things done to have surgery.  Dr. wants me to lose about 50lbs to get my BMI closer to 50 before he will do surgery.  Any tips or best way to lose the weight as quick as possible.  I would love to have my surgery in April or May.

Thanks

Chenoa

I don't know if it will make you lose weight really fast but try food journaling. Do it for a couple days to get an idea of how many calories you are currently consuming then try to eat like 200-500 calories fewer than that from then on (each day) and keep journaling your food. It helps but just make sure you write down EVERYTHING.  Also depending on what your fittness level or abilities are you could try brisk walking for 30 minutes a day or maybe do an exercise dvd like Leslie sansone's series (I really liked it) or if you're really adventurous try something like Insanity or Jillian Michael's 30 day shred dvd. Also remember to drink LOTS of water and get lots of lean protein in!  And if you eat a lot of carbs, cutting back on those could help too.

Just keep trying your best and you'll get there.  Sorry I couldn't give anything more specific or sure fire but hope I could help.

Best of luck!!

Medifast is a good suggestion. I lost almost 50 lbs post op by a high protein low carb, under 1000 cal/day diet. (I really did not exercise at all.)The good news if you lose pre-op, you will be a better surgical candidate because your liver will be better and it will cause you to address some emotional eating issues. Good luck.

50lbs! thats heaps, however with your bigger starting weight you may find you lose it quicker tahn you thought. I hope you do.
If thats a deciding factor for your surgery to go ahead a suggest you go to a specialist and light exercise program which will help you after the vsg
Good luck.
