Do you count caffeinated drinks towards your 'water' goals?
I only coun****er. I know I could count other liquids, but I figure if I'm making sure to get all my water in then the other liquids are sort of like icing on the cake.
My surgeon is also sort of hard core about the liquids. He took me off my diuretic prior to surgery and wants no caffeine for at least 6 months. I've been perfect about that aspect. At this point I'm so used to no caffeine, I don't want to go back. And boy, was I a coffee-holic! It's sort of nice to be free of that!

I was told not to count caf drinks early on by my NUT. I avoid them for the most part. If I go to starbucks I get the decaf green or black tea. If I make tea at home its an herbal tea without caf.
Sadly, I don't remember the last time I had coffee.

I don't drink caffeine anymore since my surgery, I do drink white tea which is the earlier stages of green tea, much more mild and more antioxidants in it, very healthy.
I waa told long ago that caffeine can cause you to crave something sugary, not sure how true this is.
I don't count my protein shakes toward my daily water because I mix mine with milk. I aim for 96 oz of water alone per day, as long as I get my eight glasses in any thing extra is a bonus but not a problem to get it in at all.

Interesting. I was told not to drink caffeinated drinks at all. Even all the products at my surgeon's store are decaffeinated. So interesting how different doctors give you different rules to follow. I cannot drink caffeine anyway because of heart issues, so not a big issue for me either way.

“Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our self indulgence. What glory awaits us if only we had the courage for the mountain climb. What blessing we should find if only we would move to the uplands of God.? JRM
