I'm curious to hear your thoughts about issues (big or small) that surprised you after being sleeved or what you wish you would have known ahead of time. Maybe they were pleasant surprises (ie. going from being hot to cold all the time), embarrasing or annoying (gas, etc).  Whatever the case (and whatever you are comfortable sharing), I would love to hear.  Thanks so much!

For me it had to do more with my band to sleeve change, my sleeve was what they promised me that my band would be, and the change in my quality of life was amazing after my revision

My biggest surprise was that it actually worked, and I've lost 118 pounds. I had a lap band that didn't work so I was afraid I would fail with vsg also.

I was surprised at how cold I was all the time.  I had my surgery in August and I remember being on the recliner wrapped in a blanket because I was freezing.  My feet were always cold - even now, though not as much.  This is a common occurance, so get used to it!  I just wear socks to bed and I'm fine.

That's because you've been taking those noassitol pills Elise!

It was a big surprise that armpits really are pits and they are a booger to shave now!

Lot's of other wonderful surprises, but I had never thought about that one...

For me, the biggest surprise was how much I did need to work on my mental issues.  I always thought that I knew myself and my own motivesvery well.  What I did not know about myself was how much I could delude myself and lie to myself.  I had to open my mind to the psychological tools and use them before I realized that I labelled my eating habits and ignored them rather than facing them.

Physically - God I discover something new every day.  Like someone else said - the true reason why an armpit is called a "pit".  I felt like Columbus discovering the west indies the first time i felt my collar bone, My hip bones, etc.  I am becoming positively bony!

The mechanics of sex are much different now.  It can be shall we say - more pentrating.  I will leave the details up to your fevered imagination.  Lets just say if they advertised this more guys would get WLS.  Even the skinny ones.  It works for the ladies too - so I hear.

My tastes changed.  Everyone told me they would, I didn't expect how much more I could love food after WLS.  The flavors are intense and sensual.  The textures of food are so much more pleasant.  I really can taste all of the natural goodness in food that I never could before.

I never really had the gas problems some reported.  Honestly, my farts don't stink as much now that theres no red meat in my diet.  I used to let some real paint peelers, let me tell you.  Now, noisy but not deadly.  I hope once I don't have multiple butts flapping back there that i'll be more muffled.

That about all I can think of right now - and probably TMI anyway.  Theres not one thing I regret.  My life is heaven now compared to before surgery.  Its twilight here in middle Tennessee as I sit on my deck and type this.  There are fireflies and crickets about.  The sky is painted in shades of purple and mauve.  Its tranquil.  I never could have enjoyed this like this before.

My body may have changed, but I have changed just as much as a person.  Maybe thats the biggest surprise.
