The things I'm looking forward to

Surgery for me is next week, so I'm still a pre-op.  I'm finding that there are more and more things I'm looking forward to.

I have the staple goals, like better health and longer life, but there are some silly ones that are popping into my head lately, like:

Buying a belt
Having a waist
Being smaller than my husband, not just shorter than he is
Not having to lift stuff to dry it after a shower
Fitting in my teeny tiny "matchbox car" (Miata)
Not having to rock back and forth to gain momentum to get out of bed
Not crying when I shop for clothes
Wearing a dress
Feeling like putting on makeup and fixing my hair isn't a waste of time
Not feeling like I'm being stared at when I eat
Going to the gym and keeping up with the skinny chicks
Shopping for clothes at a regular store

And last, but maybe the most important.....

Being a "Vet" and helping someone new here

There are more things on my "wish list', but since it's a rough morning, and I'm getting really tired of the pre-op liquid, I felt like I needed a reminder of some of the less practical reasons for doing all of this.

Thanks for "listening"

Happy Friday!

I made a similar list - it was my WLS Bucket list!  lol.  I have accomplished quite a bit of mine, and I wish you great luck on yours.

Note however: You WILL cry while shopping - probably more than once - but hopefully, it will be similar to many of our experiences: tears of astonishment (it's WHAT size!!) and joy (damn, I look so much better!!).

Good luck to you!  The loser's bench is never ending - your spot is waiting!!

Best wishes.  After you've done all of the pre-op diet and post op restrictions you can look back and feel like maybe it wasn't that bad.

But while you are in the middle of it, it isn't that great.

It won't last too long, and then when the lbs start coming off, and you start acheiving some of those victories, you'll realize it was worth it.

None of those things on your list are silly!  They are all part of the wonderful world that will open up to you after WLS.  I'm 10+ months out and have experienced many of the items on your list.  I loved finally weighing less than my husband - I even weighed more than he did, when we got married.  Best of luck to you!!

Thank you!  We got married 6 months ago, and I was bigger than he is.  It made me think....he's a firefighter, and right now, he couldn't even carry his own wife out of a burning building.....our marriage deserves better than that.

I hear you!  We'll have been married 23 years in October.  He's gained some weight since then, but even with his weight gain, I still weighed about 15-20 lbs. more than that when we got married.  Of course my weight only went up from there.  It's so nice that his T's either now fit me or are too big - could never fit into them before.  You'll be there before you know it!

I had many of those on my list too. I would add though, getting on a plane and not having to ask for an extender and not nearly killing the person next to me. It is very nice!
