Hi everyone,

I am five weeks out and have found my tastes to be very different than pre VGS.

I can make myself something to eat (protein mainly) and I can only eat it once, I can't stand the taste of it the next day.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I only seem to like one kind of cheese and all the others make me sicky, but same goes for the 2nd time of eating any dense protein.

I'm 7 months out and I am not able to eat left over or reheated chicken.  I can eat some things that are left overs, but not chicken.  I have tried to reheat it various ways, but I don't like the taste, smell, or texture.

I've made a few things for myself that smelled good while I was preparing them, but then couldn't stand to eat it.  My sister (14 months out) said the same thing.

Could it be in the way you are reheating it?

I can't eat most dense proteins if they have been nuked in the microwave. If I reheat food, it pretty much has to be in the oven. Otherwise it's too tough and dry and doesn't taste right.

When reheating leftovers in the microwave, use the defrost cycle which is 50% power. That way you won't overheat/overcook the food.

When I reheat chicken - 2.5 ounces usually, I put it in for 4 minutes at 50% power.

I find heating on the stove in a pan seems to work . But what I try to do is remake the food. Like throw some sauce over it and some other ingredients and make it into a casserole . Chicken in a soup,  Stuff like that.

its pretty common for tastes to change and to become a sort of finniky eater. take advantage of this and learn to eat only what tastes good and is good for you. if leftovers seem bad, prepare smaller portions or let family eat the leftovers and have another option for yourself. its ok to waste some food. its not a crime and its not that much money. go with this . you will be better off for it.  congrats on your vsg.  diane
