Yes, Another Newbie
Once I was cleared for solids, having a scale to weigh my food was valuable. Early out, you can't really tell if you're full or not, but by having a pre measured amount that you eat really slowly, you're not going to overdo your sleeve's capacity.
Take a ton of pictures! Even if you don't want to look at your before pic, snap them and just don't look at them. When you find yourself plateauing or second guessing your decision for surgery having pics is a really good way to remind yourself of where you've come from.
I'm a 2.5 year successful post op, but there are days that I wish I could eat more. 99% of the time I'm happy with no complaints, but on more than one occasion I've asked my non sleeve friends to borrow their stomach for the rest of my meal. It happens. The fight in your head is never over.

Hi and welcome, try not to get scared off by any of the occasional drama on here, just ignore it. So, my most valuable thing is my food scale. Even at 18 mo out I still need to weigh my protein or I over estimate and eat too much. Also valuable is myfitnesspal.com where I track all my food and exercise, keeps me on track. I hated all of the bariatric supplements and shakes, gave it all away, gross. I like premier protein chocolate ready to drink from Costco, add it to my coffee in the morning. I also like jay Robb protein powder, and I like powdered peanut butter ( pb2). Never tried unflavored protein. I take regular vitamins, centrum, and I take generic prilosec from Costco. I listened to the vets before me and followed their eating plan, starting at about 8 mo, I wish I had followed it sooner. My doc was a bit vague on eating plan after the first few wks and I never had a nutritionist. The plan I'm referring to was 600-800 calories, 40 grams or less carbs. Mainly protein, veggies and very little fruit. Once I got on that I got to goal and look and feel great. You will hear a lot of controversy on this plan( controversy putting it mildly!) but this is just what worked for me. I believe everyone is different and needs to figure out what works for them. Lots of people think the vets are self riteous, but I urge you to not get offended, just read and let it all soak in. These people genuinely do want to help others and I don't believe anyone has negative intentions. Best of luck, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need any support at all.
