April surgery people
Hi Tonja,
I have had a great journey thus far.
I have lost 52 lbs since my surgery on 04/16, with a total of 75 lbs gone.
I have less than 100 lbs to lose for the first time in 20 years
I have changed from a sedentary person who has NEVER worked out to someone who works out regularly and look forward to it.
I have lost 5 sizes and went from a tight 34 to a loose 24.
I have learned to roll with the stalls and accept them as part of the journey instead of saying, "heck with it" and fall back into bad eating.
I have accepted there are those who have lost a lot more than me in the same or shorter time span and I sincerely am happy for them instead of feeling pressured and not successful.
I am mobile and enjoy life instead of watching life pass me by from the sidelines.
My husband chases me all over the house now and I like pretending he can't catch me.
Life is beautiful and i am beginning to believe that so am I.
Best,
Sharon

Hi Tonja,
April 9th was a new birthday for me. The day I really became a much healthier person. The journey hasn't always been easy or fun, but it has been a true learning experience. I've met some wonderful folks here and in my local support group.
Even though I have the challenges of rhuematoid arthritis, I have become a much more active person. I started swimming laps and am now up to 2000 meters ( 1 1/4 miles) 2-3 days a week and have begun physical therapy to relearn how to use my body properly. The extra weight I had really changed the way I moved. I found I no longer need to move my shoulder to lift my arm among other lessons.
As my doctor says, I am an over achiever. I was a light weight at 252 when I began my pre-op diet. My goal was to be under 200 for my 50th birthday in October. I passed that goal in June. I am no longer on BP meds. and Coumadin and a couple of other meds. My RA is under better control.
My weight loss seems to stair step at about each 10 lb mark. It stops and jumps up and down for a week or so then I start losing again. Since I hit 185 it seems to be happening about every 5lbs now. However, I do change clothing sizes during that time. I've learned that my body is most likely adjusting to the weight loss. At my heaviest I wore a 20w, I am now in a 10 and a medium top. I am so thankful that I found a consignment shop to sell my plus size clothing and for the thrift stores to buy
"new" things with the proceeds. S

I had my surgery April 3, 2012. I'm down 80 -82 lbs . I weigh anywhere between 212 - 215 now. Love it. I want to get to 175 ( I'm 5'10) Found my capacity is a bit more. Much easier to get veggies and meat and a little carb. Feels better having a little variety. Not tracking my food as much these days.
Bought a bike, loving riding it . Haven't been on a bike for like 20 yrs. Working out at the gym 3-4 times a week. ( some weeks are really bad- last week I didn't go once!)

Congrats to all!!!
I was Sleeved on 4-23-12, Started at 346 I'm down 86+ lbs
I still don't like to work out but find myself doing it anyways lol
I do have more energy and find myself doing more than before. However I don't take a multi-vit or Calcium citrate, I know, I know its bad, but I cant find one that doesn't make me GAG
... I started in a 3X scrubs for work and now I'm in a XL, as for regular clothes I'm went from a 3X to a 2x/1X. I'M VERY HAPPY I MADE THE DECISION TO HAVE SURGERY!
