Doc, are you crazy?
My goal weight has always been 225 pounds.... he seems to think I should be 190... I have not been 190- since maybe 5th grade ( sarcasm) but that might be truthfull.
I cant imagine being any smaller than 225, hell I can imagine what 225 will look like but 190 seems small! I figure that after skin removal surgery I will be closer to 215...
I know that he is going off the BMI chart but I am currious to hear from those who are further out than I am... have you reached your BMI goal that your Doc set? For the guys, have any of you bulked up a little (muscle) during the process and it caused your BMI to be higher than you anticipated.
Post Warriror Dash - 10/27 I plan on being 299 or lower. It then I plan on hitting the weights hard, infact I am going to do P90X followed by Cross fit, so I am thinking this will add muscle....
Staying motivated,
Mario

I ended up revising my goal weight up a few pounds as I got closer to goal. I was getting pretty trim and felt great and my body was sort of evening out. So, I have not made a normal BMI range. My BMI is currently 26.5 - in the over weight range! I'd still have to lose another 10 pounds to get to a normal bmi and that just ain't gonna happen. You can check out my pics on my profile and see for yourself.
You don't necessarily have to get to a normal BMI to be healthy and look good - it really depends on your bone and muscle structure. I would play it by ear and see how it goes the closer you get to 225.
This whole thing is a huge exercise in learning to deal with adjustment. Things evolve, your emotions, perceptions and weight take time to line up. I'm almost two years out and I still eyeball insanely huge clothing on the rack thinking it's my size.
Part of my process was realizing and accepting that I had body dysmorphia. So, once I'd dropped about 100 pounds, I started looking at myself in the mirror and regularly taking pictures of what I was looking at until I got used to what I was seeing and the two images matched. That's also when I got over my fear of having my picture taken :)

First I want to say congrats on your success so far. It's very impressive. My doc said they same thing...wants me to weigh 190lbs. I feel just like you but like others have said, I'll just see how it goes and how I feel as I get down in weight. I set my goal for 200 because like you, I plan on doing P90X and CrossFit .
Best wishes! -Larry
Clearly, as a 5'4" woman, I don't plan to settle for 190! However, I don't plan to follow the charts, either. My personal goal is 150. I'm losing slowly--only 50 pounds since surgery in June, so it this could take a while!
